MIT: You’ve got an amazing portfolio of work, and looks like you’re just getting started!

From Maxim to hit shows such as “Seventh Heaven” and “Pacific Blue” to appearing in films with David Spade, Sean Penn, Whoopie Goldberg and more, it seems like there isn’t a place in showbiz you haven’t succeeded at!  You started out in a small town outside of Peoria, Illinois before moving to Florida and then making the big jump to Hollywood. How did you make the leap to the City of Lights? Was there some fear of the unknown before you made the jump?

Amy: I just made up my mind that I didn’t want to live with the “what if” feeling so I just got in the car and started driving. There was definitely fear but I could live with that. I couldn’t live with not knowing if I could have actually succeeded in something I wanted to do so badly.

MIT: Congratulations on the twins! How old are they now?Picture 7

Amy: They are 20 months old and doing amazingly!

MIT: Did you have a fitness program for during your pregnancy?

I rode the stationary bike a lot and also walked. I tried to keep up with prenatal yoga too..

Amy: I rode the stationary bike a lot and also walked. I tried to keep up with prenatal yoga too.. my program was cut short by a bed rest order by the doctors and that was super tough on my psyche since we all know working out is not only good for your outer body but inside as well.

MIT: Do you have a regular fitness routine now or is it difficult to stay on a set schedule?

Amy: It is difficult to keep a regular routine as my life is always in flux. I never know where I will be or what the kids will need but I try to make an effort to hit the weights twice a week, pilates plus once a week and walk/run once or twice as well. I just started riding horses again too so that is an amazing workout.

MIT: Childhood obesity is now a disease of epidemic proportions. How do you plan on ensuring that your kids stay active and healthy?

I also buy organic which I think is very important and try to stay away from processed food.

Picture 6Amy: First of all, I gave them breast-milk for as long as I could. They were in the hospital for quite awhile but I would bring in tons of it for them to put in their feeding tubes. I also buy organic which I think is very important and try to stay away from processed food. They both love fresh fruit so they get that every meal. I also will not allow them to drink soda. If they never taste it, then cravings for it cannot form. I also plan to limit TV and video time. I don’t know that you can completely insulate them from these things, but it will need to be a tradeoff in my house. If they watch TV for an hour, then go out and play outside for an hour or read for part of that time and then play. They both love running and kicking the ball and dancing so I think if I keep encouraging them to be active, we will be fine.

Thanks for taking he time to answer our questions, best of luck to you !
