Over a year and a half of working with Will, I’ve seen a lot of ups and downs. Moving to the Bay Area from the East Coast resulted in several habit and health changes that took me a while to understand. I wasn’t doing enough for myself outside of my time with Will, but he has really encouraged me to make the necessary changes in lifestyle and diet and inspired me to do the work necessary to achieve my goals on my own time. I continue to see Will once a week to keep me going in a spiritual sense, but he has provided me with more than enough tools to achieve my goals on my own. I also continue to see Will because I consider him a friend, albeit one that likes to kick my butt once a week!

When I decided to start training with Will, I felt like my level of fitness was at the point of no return. My energy levels were extremely low, and I was not feeling like myself. I kept making excuses for how I had gotten to that level, “I spend 60+ hours a week on work and school, I don’t have time to worry about diet and exercise.” But when I finally decided to make the commitment to Will’s program it was life changing. Despite my busy schedule of a full time bartender and nursing student, Will always helps me to find a time to come in for my 2 weekly workouts. Whenever I am feeling unmotivated, he is also there to give positive reinforcement and give me nutrition advice. I have been on this program for several months now, and it has become a part of my life that I can’t imagine going without!

Not only have a lost 20 lbs since starting, I have lost several inches and my overall mental health has improved. I have much more energy and get compliments nearly every day on how much my physique has improved. I would recommend this program for anyone who wants to lose weight, get in shape, and improve your quality of life in general. No excuses!

I met Will at Gold’s gym. I liked his manner and methods and went to the new gym when he moved. I think that Will is a very effective trainer. He’s worked with me through all kinds of difficulties and actually helped a great deal. I’ve lost 5 pounds and believe I have gained some muscle. Will is very flexible and is willing to do whatever is necessary to make the experience a successful one. I’ve recently changed the way in which I am eating and Will has been helpful in that regard. I referred a friend and I believe he will be coming soon.

I met Will at Gold’s Gym and joined his bootcamp. I was right about to start one-on-one personal training sessions with another trainer and he walked up and started talking about this bootcamp that the two of them were going to start. I was already a pretty active person so I just sort of rolled my eyes and told him it better not be weak! Little did I know… and soon I became addicted. Will worked us hard everyday. I had been in a few other bootcamps before and Will was still able to expose me to new exercises and drills. If there was ever an exercise I forgot how to do or had bad form with, he was there to assist. Aside from the physical part, he shared a lot of knowledge on diet as well.

Will is the kind of trainer that motivates you. He cracked jokes so you don’t want to quit and the same time was serious about the bootcamp. I definitely got a good workout each time.

I met Will shortly after I had my first cortisone shot in my knee. A 1990 car accident left me with barely any meniscus in my left knee, and as a result my patella is now dislocated. It’s ugly looking and painful, and I had almost no range of motion. There was no exercise possible for me, and the constant pain had caused me to begin to drink myself to sleep every night. Since the accident, I had gained about 80 pounds. I was inspired by the Biggest Loser television show, and I decided to take my doctor’s advice and get a cortisone shot. Standing up out of bed the next morning was amazing, so I hobbled on in to 24-Hour Fitness. They said they had a “disability” trainer, and assigned me to Will. (Little did I know he was an ex-Marine and was just as hard on his disabled clients as he was on everyone else!)

Our first session was a whopping three-minute workout on the exercise bike and then I hobbled home. In a few months, with time and patience, Will had me up to 12 minutes on the bike and another 8 minutes or so on the elliptical. I was doing a 20-minute cardio workout! I saw instant results, but hit a major stall about four months in. I had a rough day, and Will made it even rougher. We got into a fight. I didn’t feel he understood what it was like to be constantly in pain. It makes you angry, grouchy, testy and sometimes just downright rude. When I explained this to Will, he said, “So, you’re saying that you feel pain all the time, it never stops, and it’s always going to be there.” “Yes,” I said, “You don’t know what that’s like.” “You’re right, I don’t,” he said, “but if it’s always going to be there and it’s never going away, why not make it work FOR you instead of against you?” Such wisdom from a 25-year-old! It ticked me off, but it also created my light bulb “aha!” moment.

I’ve lost 50 pounds, and even though it’s been almost three years (and I sometimes feel stuck) I’m still committed to making things work FOR me instead of against me. I’ve migrated with Will wherever he is because I think he “gets” me. He certainly doesn’t take any crap from me, and he knows when I’m really working. He’s motivated me to try Boot Camp, and even though I’m probably the slowest, least capable person out there, neither one of us cares. It’s all about moving forward from where I am today, not comparing myself to others. I couldn’t walk even a quarter of a mile without my knee giving out – now I can get all the way around Lake Merritt in Oakland (just under three miles). I actually run at Boot Camp. I couldn’t get across the street at a stop light before it would turn red, and now I’m at the other side before the light even turns yellow.

I would definitely refer Will as a trainer because if he can help someone like me (in constant pain, majorly overweight, and really, really stubborn), I’m convinced he can help anyone.

Boot camp was an awesome experience! I went to get fit for my wedding day. After boot camp for a few months I went from not being able to zip my dress more than halfway to not needing any alterations at all! Love the workouts, this type of cross fit cannot be replicated at the gym by yourself, believe me I have tried! I went to the regular gym after learning workouts from Boot Camp and not only did they give me a hard time about using the “trainer’s” kettle bells, but my motivation level was nothing compared to what it was at boot camp. You really get a good workout in and Will motivates you to push to YOUR max! That’s the great thing, I worked out with my mother-in-law and my sister’s boyfriend and the workout routines could be the same, but we each were able to do it at our own ability level. I miss it greatly, money well spent!

If you are looking for a trainer and I mean a GOOD trainer – you need to look no further. I absolutely LOVE my workouts with William, he will challenge you and “all” your muscles. Williams keeps the workouts fun and not repetitive but enjoyable. He always gives me that extra push I need to keep going.
I’ve had a couple of trainers in the past and neither one impressed me. No matter how long you’ve been with William, I’m sure I can speak for everyone when I say, ‘you always leave feeling good know you had an amazing workout’.

Scott from Albany, CA says

Simply put, one damn good trainer. I came to Will unmotivated, over-weight, and uneducated about maintaining a healthy body. Over the past several weeks, Will has helped make that former version of me a foggy memory. While I still have ways to go to reach my goals, I now feel I have the energy, confidence, and motivation to meet them.
Will is a pretty yoked up guy…so I’m sure he has his fair share of body building type clients, but I can’t really speak to that. I’m just an average middle-aged guy who was sick of feeling middle-aged. If you are someone similar, I’m confident Will can help you get out of that funk.

I attend 3 times a week… a few words off top!?! Professional… motivational.. Fun.. inspirational and understanding. If you are looking for a workout and are serious about it… this is the place to be… mentally  physically and financially this is one of the best decision I’ve made .. though i am in a group session i am still given more than enough attention (literally) sometimes i wish he wasn’t looking so i could cheat a little.. but its not happening they take you and your goals as serious if not more than you do!! If your like me and need an extra push or a helping hand in getting RIGHT as they say become a MONSTER IN TRAINING!!!

Kathy from Tracy, CA says

What an experience!  I am 49 years old, and haven’t worked out in ages.  I really want to be in shape before I turn 50, so I signed up for bootcamp because a friend recommended Will and Monster in Training.  I have never worked out so hard and felt so good about myself.  He pushes you enough so you do more than you thought you could, but he modifies anything you really struggle with.  I loved the way I felt when I was finished with my workout.  I lost weight and inches in just three weeks.  Monster in Training has inspired me to work out most days of the week when I didn’t work out at all before.  Thank you for showing me what I can REALLY do!!!  I feel better than I have in years, and I’m looking much better too.  Thank you so much Will!
